Feeding Baby Bear

I did not wait until six months to give Baby Bear solids due to extenuating circumstances. His first food was green beans, looking back you would think that he would be turned off from food forever. This however was not the case at all!

He is so obviously my son in more than one way. Baby Bears personality was something I’d always wondered about. What would he be like? Would he be easy going or tempermental? Would he have colic or sleep through the night? Would he love food?

Well at nine months of age I have most of these questioned answered. He is his own person and I cannot define him in only one way. Baby Bear is extremely easy going… until he sees me eating that is. All bets are off and he crawls towards me at lightning fast speed making smacking sounds with his lips. “That food is MINE mom.” His sign for more food is slapping the tray of his high chair or table. I can’t do the cradle hold with him or he will aligator roll to the nearest boob and proceed to try and rip my shirt off looking for it.

Sleeping through the night is slowly getting better, he wakes up once around 12 and sleeps until about 7-8am. I’m cool with that. He is a baby and I’m just following his lead. (Sidenote: It annoys me when married couples complain about being sleep deprived. I get that they are and they have every right to complain, but it’s just me I have no partner to help me out. Which is obvioulsy my choice to be a single parent, but none the less I am over the whining about sleep. Don’t have kids if you can’t handle the heat. or lack of sleep)

Does Baby Bear love food? YES, oh yes he does. So far he has eatten and liked peach, banana, sweet potato, apple, pear, asparagus (tips, not stem too stringy) mashed potatoes, peas, carrots, plums, brown rice, avocado, mustard greens, egg yolk, pasta, beans, beet, macaroni and cheese, yogurt, cheese, oatmeal and more.

Despite this he still only weighs around 19 pounds! I was given the go ahead by his doctor to try and feed him more fattening food so I am mixing in avocado, and even going to try coconut milk since he hasnt shown any allergies to other things I feel safe giving him this. I am going to avoid meat and would really like us to eventually be vegan but I will give him the option when he is verbal to choose what he wants (within reason)

Does anyone have vegtarian/vegan ways to amp up fat in his diet?
