My very first trip to BlogHer was amazing and completely overwhelming at the same time. Baby Bear and I flew into San Diego a night early since we had to go to volunteer training the next day. I had myself all worked up about what it would be like expecting graph charts, rules and lots of things to do. In the end it was very laid back, everyone was very friendly! Baby Bear assisted me in giving out lanyards, swag bags and pins. I tried to follow all the advice people gave before coming out to the conference and feel that I used it to the best of my ability. Always smile at people, always be friendly, turn off your bitch face. I always waved or smiled to people who were alone since I felt so alone myself. It was hit or miss, some people waved back and we stopped to say hi while some people gave me serious bitch face and walked faster their loss.
Not having a lot of money to spend on the conference I made due with what I had to wear, I made an effort to look nice and wear clean clothes. By the end of the day I was usually sweaty and had some kind of milk or food on my clothes from Baby Bear. I consider it a mark of love and mommyhood.
Moving on to more exciting things! I met one of my favorite bloggers and she was just as nice as she is online. I felt really tongue tied and embarrassed but she gracefully accepted me for my dorkiness and still let me hang out with her. Baby Bear of course filled his pants to the brim with the stinkiest poop ever and threw toys in order to show his affection. I’m still sorry about the stinky pants situation and thankful that he did not bean a itty bitty baby in the head with his block.
So for a short recap thus far I had a great time meeting new people but wished I had gone to more sessions. It was tough with Wyatt wanting to yell block!! (Gock) every five seconds or scream if I didn’t let him crawl around. Since we were going on to another state far away from home I brought him with me and he was my personal greeter, a way to break the ice.
Next up: more Blogher and then Oregon!
